Engine additives are an important item that many people think are just gimmicks, but are usually items that work very well.

These include items like Cooling System Improvers, Fuel Stabilisers, Octane Boosters to name but a few.

Joe Gibbs Coolant System Protector

Impurities in well water can cause rust and corrosion inside the radiator, water pump and cylinder heads, and this can lead to a loss of cooling efficiency.

VP Cool Down Cooling System Additive

VP Cool Down Reduces cooling system operating temperatures by 20-50 degrees F.

Works great in race cars, their towing vehicles, and long idling applications. 1 bottle* per 2.5 gallons (9.46Litres) / 2 ounces per quart for motorcycles.

Reduces coolant surface tension, allows better laminar coolant flow for better heat transfer. Lubricates without the crystallisation of other coolant additives.

VP Racing Fuels’ Cool Down is designed to compliment your ride’s coolant by reducing the surface tension of water by a factor of two, which translates to the formation of smaller vapour bubbles. Large vapour bubbles on the metal surface create an insulating layer, which impedes heat transfer.

This product also keeps the crucial water passages in the engine and cooling systems clean by preventing the build up of scale and corrosion by-products. This maximises heat transfer leading to lower operating temperatures and increased engine performance and efficiency.

Cool Down also helps to prevent coolant foaming at high temperatures and it ensures that water pump seals are cleaned and lubricated. Other benefits of Cool Down include reduction of high temperature cavitation corrosion and long term acid corrosion protection.

Most importantly, this product is Glycol-free, meaning that it’s safe to be put into most cooling systems that contain aluminum, cast iron, copper, brass or bronze materials. This product has been extensively tested and its performance proven under the harsh racing conditions.

The result? How about a cooling system that runs cooler by up to 10 degrees Celsius? That means more time on the track and less time in the pits waiting for your hot ride to cool down!

Octopus Grip is simple and easy to use…

1. A few days prior to your race, ensure tyres are clean and scuffed.
2. Apply Octopus Grip with a clean paint brush.
3. Wrap in industrial grade plastic wrap. Simple!

Depending on the condition of your tyres, several coats may be required.

Older Tyres.

Some older tyres may require a few treatments and usage before optimum results are gained – the hardened outer layer must be penetrated. For best results on older or harder semi slick tyres apply two coats and allow to absorb overnight, apply another two coats, wrap and your done!

Hillclimb soft slick tyres.

Do not over treat, the softer the tyre the more dramatic Octopus Grip works. Usually one coat is sufficient to bring an older hillclimb slick tyre back to life.

Do not over treat your tyres, Octopus Grip works very well and brings your older tyres back into life with one to 4 coats, see the guide above as a starting point, experiment to see what suits your vehicle and type of racing.

These are not limited to Petrol Engines, but are also available for Diesel, Ethanol and Methanol fuels as well.

Alky Race Fuel Lube

Fuel Lube has been specially formulated for use in methanol/nitro fuels without affecting fuel specific gravity.

Fuel Lube adds lubrication to fuel while helping to reduce wear on engine components.

Fuel Lube is designed to stop fuel gelling and will not settle at the bottom of fuel tanks.

No Methanol racer should be without this for the benefits of engine longevity and reduction in corrosion issues.

Use of this product enables fuel to be stored in the vehicle for longer time periods before requiring flushing.

This is also the only methanol additive that can be used with vehicles with Carburetor Slides without causing jamming throttle issues.

Each bottle of Fuel Lube treats 200 liters of methanol.

Manhattan Oil Fuel Lube

Manhattan Oil Upper Cylinder Lubricant

Specially formulated for methanol use, Manhattan Oil Top Lubes are recognized as the number one selling product in its category.

Customers enjoy reduced friction and better protection from corrosion associated with the use of methanol fuel. Many top engine builders, carburetor builders and injection system suppliers use and recommended these products.

A blue colorant is available to assist in identifying which fuel has Top Lube added.

The scented Top Lubes contain a low dose of fragrance and in order to get the full impact it is recommended that you use a bottle of Fuel Fragrance in combination with the Top Lube of your choice.

Each 473ml bottle of Top Lube treats 200 liters of methanol.

These will significantly reduce engine wear and tear
Does not alter the tune of the vehicle in any way, manner or form

Alky Race Fuel Flush

Fuel Flush absorbs residual methanol/nitro and leaves a lubricating film to protect against fuel gelling damage and corrosion.

For many years now we have all believed penetrating oil was the best lubricant to use after racing to protect and preserve alcohol fuel systems, with today’s technology you would never use a penetrating oil again. Penetrating oil of any kind is BAD NEWS in an alky motor.

Firstly if penetrating oil is sprayed in the cylinders it will break down any good lubrication you already have and allow fuels to attack the cylinder walls, secondly penetrating oil DOES NOT DISSOLVE IN METHANOL/NITRO!!! it will separate and sit in your tank, fuel system or intake.

Race fuels are very corrosive when left to dry out in your fuel system and supercharger.

When you crank your engine for the first time there is no lubrication in the fuel system and supercharger, damage can be done at this point.

Use a lubricant that won’t affect your engine lubricant or gell in you tank

Alky Lubricants will flush out of your fuel system at startup

On start-up Fuel Flush will readily dissolve in methanol/nitro fuels and can be rinsed off hands or components with water as required.

Alky Race Pump Lube

Alky Race Pump Lube/ Fuel Flush

Pump Lube has been specially formulated for use in methanol/nitro fuel pumps and is a thick viscous fluid that adheres to fuel pump gears for better wear protection.

Pump Lube absorbs residual methanol/nitro and leaves a lubricating film to protect against pump gear galling and corrosion.

On start-up Pump Lube will readily dissolve in methanol/nitro fuels and can be rinsed off hands or components with water as required.

This can also be used as an alternative to the Alky Race Fuel Flush, as a more heavy duty version, more suitable for the supercharged vehicles.

Joe Gibbs Driven Carb Defender

Designed for carburetor classic & performance vehicles, this concentrated additive prevents costly repairs & poor performance resulting from the use of corrosive Ethanol-blended pump gas or flex fuels.

Driven’s Carb Defender™ Fuel Additive is specifically formulated to protect against Ethanol corrosion and induction deposits.

Special corrosion inhibitors work to prevent expensive repairs and diminished performance caused by Ethanol-blended pump gasoline and the moisture it attracts.

High levels of Ethanol dilution in the motor oil can also lead to rust and other corrosion problems in the crankcase.

This new additive, however, controls combustion chamber residue, plus cleans and protects surfaces of the fuel system and intake tract.

The additive treats up to 25 gallons of Ethanol-blended gas, and should be used with each and every fill-up.

Manhattan Oil Fuel Fragrances

In 1992, Manhattan Oil introduced Fuel Fragrances to be used in gasoline, methanol, nitro-methane and diesel fuels. 1 x 118ml bottle treats 35 litres of gasoline, 200 litres of methanol, or 20 litres of diesel.

The product is widely used from lawnmowers to top fuel dragsters. Fuel Fragrances are intended to set you apart from the rest and be a hit with the crowd.

When used in methanol you will find less eye irritation from the fumes. They do not enhance or inhibit performance and are safe to use in all internal combustion engines, nor do they have any impact in relation to fuel testing.

VP M2 Upper Lube

VP M2 Upper Cylinder Additive

Leaves a thin film of lubrication to protect against corrosion between races.

Protects valves, guides, cylinder walls, fuel pumps, and aluminium fuel systems for methanol powered engines.

Extends pump life. Virtually eliminates white powder residue from the interaction of Methanol and aluminium fittings.

Allows fuel to be left in fuel lines for longer than normal. Does not alter the tune of the vehicle, nor block any fine nozzles for mechanical injection.

Not recommended for use with Rotary vehicles. Can be mixed with other oils in historic motorcycles utilising butterfly valves only, not suitable for slide carburetors.

Reports back from most racers, especially smaller capacity engines, is decreased engine wear, especially on piston rings. Use of this additive can mean the difference between 1 engine or 3 engine overhauls in the same season. One bottle treats 200 litres of Methanol.

These additives were initially designed for Methanol vehicles, but now have also become extremely popular with Ethanol E85 fuels due to there great lubricating properties.
